I finska Åbo kommer stadsbiblioteket genomföra ett test med utlåning av en elbil.

Tillsammans med Toyota erbjuder idag biblioteket i Åbo utlåning av en elbil. På vardagar kan den lånas i sex timmar och på helger fyra och en halv timme. Samma bibliotek började för ett par år sedan med en eldriven bokbuss. Nu tar de låneverksamheten ett steg vidare.
The process of borrowing the car is similar to taking out a book, the library said in the release. In addition to a library card, customers need to present a valid Finnish driving license and must not have more than 10 euros of outstanding late fees.

– Technological equality is an important value for us. We want to share information about new options and innovations, says Library Services Director Rebekka Pilppula from the Turku City Library.
The experiment focuses on the core themes of library operations – the circular economy. The library’s most important tasks are to produce various services as sustainably and as equally as possible.
